That spaghetti has definitely got a pair.
It reminds me of a creature on Nintendo's “Metroid” game.
Posted by: Tazja at October 7, 2005 04:39 AMYou been reading my blog, then?
Posted by: MikeCamel at October 7, 2005 09:36 AMI've taken a look just now. I'm not surprised to see the FSM making an appearance (as He seems to be getting everywhere these days). I first read about Him in the New Scientist a couple of months back, but over the past week lots of people seem to be taking Him rather seriously. When my dad sent me a link to the site a couple of days ago, I decided that the FSM had reached its tipping point… This was later confirmed when I saw many people walking around dressed as pirates. This has coincided with a recent drop in temperature. Cynics would claim that this is just a seasonal variation, and it happens every October, but I'm not so sure. I think that this is proof that the age of the Pastafarians is fast coming.
Incidentally, I'm pleased (though not entirely surprised) that we have pretty much the same views on ID (can we call it ID Fraud? Can I connect this to your interest in Trust issues? Can I be bothered? Probably not…). It is a shame that some of the comments on the FSM site turn into a free for all Christian bashing thing (though FSM knows, some of them deserve it…), rather than concentrating on the problems of using religion as a political / social control tool, i.e. to keep people stoopid.
I am reminded of a Hitch Hiker's Guide passage, where Ford tells Arthur about a planet populated by people but ruled by evil controlling lizards. The people are not concerned about the situation, as the lizards are democratically elected:-
“You mean they actually vote for the lizards?”
“Oh yes,” said Ford with a shrug, “of course.”
“But,” said Arthur, going for the big one again, “why?”
“Because if they didn't vote for a lizard,” said Ford, “the wrong lizard might get in.
The flying spaghetti monster appeared in my dream one night and told me to find you and tattoo an Elmer Fudd on your knee.
Posted by: Frederick Billingstone at October 7, 2005 04:33 PMIt looks like a vasectomy gone wrong - I may never eat spaghetti again.

I'm a Sauceror myself - I believe that a long time ago life magically emerged from a large vat of boiling tomatoes (with added oregano, garlic and pepper, of course). This Pastafarianism malarky is heresy.
Posted by: kfb at October 20, 2005 01:06 PMAh, now, well don't I feel like an idiot for my lack of realization that the FSM was clickable. Someone actually forwarded the site to me and now I get it. I swear, new parenthood sucks away grey matter by the bucketful.
